Mulhall mother charged with lying about murder

The mother of the so-called “Scissor Sisters” appeared in court today to face nine new charges in connection with the murder of her African boyfriend.

Kathleen Mulhall, whose Kenyan partner was killed by her daughters in her Dublin home, was charged at Dublin District Court.

Fareh Swaleh Noor’s dismembered remains were recovered from Royal Canal in Dublin in 2005.

The 38-year-old’s head and penis have never been found.

Ms Mulhall, of St Mary’s Park, Carlow, was today charged with withholding information, helping to clean up the crime scene, five counts of giving false information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Noor, and two counts of pretending she did not know her boyfriend’s whereabouts.

The 52-year-old was previously charged with acting with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of her daughters Charlotte and Linda.

Ms Mulhall was remanded in custody until March 25, when she is due to reappear before the court.

Her daughters have already been convicted of killing Mr Noor on March 21, 2005, at Richmond Cottages, Ballybough in Dublin’s north inner city.

In December 2006, 25-year-old Charlotte was jailed for life for murdering her mother’s African boyfriend. Earlier this month she lost an appeal against her conviction.

Linda, 32, was jailed for 15 years for manslaughter. She recently won her appeal against the length of her term on grounds she was sentenced without the trial judge first seeing her probation and psychological reports.

Throughout their trial in the Central Criminal Court, the jury heard the sisters had been drinking heavily in the city centre and taken ecstasy on the day of the killing.

They claimed Mr Noor made a pass at Linda before Charlotte slit his throat while Linda bludgeoned him over the head with a hammer.

They then took his body into the bathroom of their mother’s home and cut it up before dumping it.

Ms Mulhall had been sharing her home with Mr Noor up to his death. She then moved to the UK where she was met by Irish detectives last month and returned home voluntarily.
