Woman questioned in connection with boyfriend's death
The mother of two women convicted of killing her Kenyan boyfriend is tonight in garda custody in connection with his death.
Kathleen Mulhall, 54, is being quizzed in relation to the killing of Farah Swaleh Noor, whose dismembered body was recovered from the Royal Canal in Dublin in 2005.
It is understood Mrs Mulhall, mother of Linda and Charlotte Mulhall, is accused of aiding and abetting another person in the concealment of a crime and will appear before Dublin District Court tomorrow.
Mr Noor’s body was cut up and dumped in Dublin’s Royal Canal.
His severed head, which was taken in a duffel bag on a bus to Tallaght in the south of the city to be buried, and his penis, have never been found.
In December 2006, 25-year-old Charlotte was jailed for life for murdering the 38-year-old at her mother’s flat in Summerhill, in the north inner city.
She is currently appealing the sentence.
Last week, a top criminal judge ruled a judge erred in law in sentencing Linda, 32, to 15 years for manslaughter without checking probation and psychological reports.
However, in an interim judgement, Judge Fidelma Macken, presiding in the three-judge appeal court, stressed that they had not yet made any decision on the harshness or otherwise of the sentence.
The case was adjourned for four weeks for the reports to be finished and brought before the appeal court.
After Mr Noor’s death, Mrs Mulhall moved to the United Kingdom, where she met detectives today.
It is understood she agreed to return to Ireland voluntarily and was questioned at Mountjoy Garda Station where she was charged.
