Man jailed for sexual assault of Limerick girl
A six year jail sentence has been handed down to a Limerick man, who sexually assaulted a young girl over a period of two years.
Anthony Keogh from Moyross, committed the acts on an eight-year-old girl, who was a friend of his family, on various dates between December 2004 and October 2006.
Keogh pleaded guilty to all 7 counts of sexual assault.
He abused the girl once ever three months over a period of two years.
Defence council, Mark Nicholas said his client had been undergoing treatment at the Granada centre in Dublin, and had admitted he is a paedophile.
When Judge Carroll Moran gave the man a six year sentence, with the last three suspended, the victims grandfather rose in the court shouting, “Do you call that justice for my granddaughter?!”
46-year-old Keogh had to be taken from the court when the victim’s biological father tried to attack him.
Judge Carroll Moran said he understood the plight of the family, but had to make allowances for the mitigating circumstances of the case.
Anthony Keogh will begin his three year jail term from today, he has also been placed on the sex offenders register.
