Cargo ship to be checked for damage

A cargo ship is due to be examined for damage this afternoon after losing half its cargo in storm swells off the south coast.

The captain of the Horncliff and six other people on board have been winched from the vessel 15 miles from the Isles of Scilly.

The skipper is suffering from a suspected broken spine.

Falmouth Coastguard has said the R-A-F operation was initially hampered by waves of up to 30 feet.
