Asthma website launched to support sufferers
Vital advice and support will be at the touch of a button for almost half a million asthma sufferers across Ireland, it emerged today.
The Asthma Society of Ireland has re-launched its website to provide up-to-date information on asthma triggers, medicines, treatment, and best practice management in the event of an asthma attack.
New features include a section for parents with children suffering from asthma and for teachers who may have students with asthma in their class.
The website – www.asthmasociety.ie – also boasts a separate section, entitled 'Airplay', dedicated to educating children with asthma in a fun, child friendly way.
“We are delighted to unveil our new, re-designed website to Irelands 470,000 asthma sufferers as well as for parents of children with asthma and teachers,” said Dr Jean Holohan, CEO, Asthma Society of Ireland.
“The website offers users a one-stop shop for asthma information and education in a factual and easy to use way.
“I would urge all people affected by asthma to log on to find out more about the condition.”
Asthma is a condition that affects the airways with common triggers including cold and flu, cigarette smoke, exercise and allergic responses to pollen, furry or feathery animals or house-dust mites.
Others new additions to the site includes a latest news section containing all current and breaking news on asthma related stories and a library of material available to read online, download or order.
