Shots fired during attempted robbery in Dublin

Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a man in connection with an attempted robbery in which a number of shots were fired last night.

A couple and their two adult sons were held at gunpoint during the incident at a house in the Virginia Heights area of Tallaght.

None of them were injured during the raid and no property was stolen.

Gardaí responding to the incident subsequently spotted two men in the area and arrested one of them, while the other is still being sought.

A shotgun, a pistol and a balaclava where also recovered during follow-up searches.
