Cancer misdiagnosis report delayed

The publication of a report into the circumstances surrounding the misdiagnosis of a Co

Tipperary woman, who was falsely given the all-clear for breast cancer, has been deferred until next month.

The report from the Health Information and Quality Authority was due to be published on Monday next, December 17.

However a spokesperson for HIQA says new information has come to light in the last few days and further investigation is needed.

Rebecca O' Malley - a 41-year-old mother of three - was falsely given the all-clear for breast cancer at Cork University Hospital.

The up-coming report is also examining breast cancer services at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
