Dundalk firefighters unharmed in attempted sword assault
A fire crew in Co Louth has escaped injury after a man charged at them with a sword in the early hours of this morning.
Dundalk Fire Service was called to deal with a car fire around 2am.
Two children were rescued from a house amid concerns the fire might spread.
The crew was dealing with the blaze when the attacker approached. The fire fighters turned the water hoses on him to protect themselves. The man then ran off, but was chased by neighbours and held until gardaà arrived.
A man has since been arrested and taken to Drogheda garda station.
