Four held in connection with post office raid

Four men are in garda custody tonight following an attempted armed robbery on a Dublin post office.

Gardaí said a man wearing a motorcycle helmet entered the Dolphin’s Barn premises with a firearm at around 2.30pm.

Another person waited outside on a motorcycle and both fled when an alarm was triggered.

However, four men were later arrested in connection with the incident and officers also seized a firearm, a motorcycle and some items of clothing.

The group of four men, which includes one juvenile, are from the Dublin area and are currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act .

Two of the men are being held at Kevin Street Garda Station and the others are being detained at Kilmainham Garda Station.
