Unions unhappy with planned new age limit on taxis
Unions representing taxi drivers are criticising new reforms of the industry published by the Taxi Regulator today.
Kathleen Doyle's plans, which will be phased in over the next four years, include a particularly contentious nine-year age limit on taxis.
The reforms cover all 25,000 taxis, hackneys and limousines across the country.
The Irish Taxi Drivers Federation says the condition and not the age of vehicles should determine whether they are suitable.
