60 women return to Portlaoise for review following misdiagnosis
At least 60 women are to attend a special surgical review clinic at the Midlands Regional Hospital today.
The women, who had originally been given the all-clear for breast cancer, will be assessed again, as part of a fresh inquiry into misdiagnosis at Portlaoise.
It emerged two days ago that the HSE is reviewing hundreds of ultrasound tests at Portlaoise Hospital, amid fresh concerns that more women may have mistakenly been given the all-clear for breast cancer.
So far, 97 women have been told they need to be examined again.
At least 60 of them will be seen at a special clinic today in Portlaoise today - run by Professor Arnold Hill from Beaumont Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Taoiseach is dismissing calls for the resignation of Health Minister Mary Harney, although it's thought she could face a vote of no confidence in the Dáil.
