Consumer Agency objects to planned M50 toll increases
The National Consumer Agency has reportedly lodged an objection to planned toll increases of almost 60% on Dublin's M50 motorway.
The increases have been proposed by the National Roads Authority and are due to come into effect when barrier-free tolling is introduced next August.
For a motorist who fails to pre-register his or her car, the charge will go up by almost 60% to €3.
This morning's reports say the NCA's decision to lodge an objection will trigger an oral hearing into the proposed levies.
The agency is also reportedly objecting to hidden costs in the electronic tag system, including administrative charges, top-up thresholds and minimum top-up amounts.
