Dublin Bus appeals to drivers to reverse strike decision

Dublin Bus is appealing to a group of bus drivers to reverse their decision to take industrial action over the implementation of new bus routes and rosters.

Drivers attached to SIPTU and NBRU unions voted in favour of action last night, in protest at plans to switch buses from the Harristown depot (near the airport) into the city centre. The switch would service two new routes.

Dublin Bus insists the new rosters have been negotiated with the support of the Labour Relations Commission.

But SIPTU spokesperson Willie Noone said that the plan, which is due to come into effect on Monday, will mean a longer working day for some drivers.
