Wayne leaving Ireland 'a very distinct possibility'
Wayne O’Donoghue is very concerned about his future in this country after his release from prison next January.
That’s according to his solicitor Frank Buttimer, who said his client and his family would find it difficult to remain in Ireland.
Mr Buttimer was speaking after Mr Justice Paul Carney’s address in University College Cork last night, where he said his client, Robert Holohan’s killer, had no future in this country when his sentence was served and he would be freed from prison on January 16.
“Wayne and his family are very apprehensive about his impending release. I would say leaving the country is a very distinct possibility.
“It would be very difficult for Wayne and his family to have a meaningful life in this country,” said Mr Buttimer.
He said that his client will not be seeking release to spend Christmas with his family and also ruled out the possibility of Wayne applying for early release.
“He is not seeking early release and if it was offered to him by the Irish Prison Service he would not accept it because he wants to accept his punishment and serve it in full,” said Mr Buttimer.
He said he had not spoken with his client since Mr Justice Carney’s comments last night.
