New safety standards drawn up for goalposts
New safety standards governing the goalposts used on playing fields in Ireland are being launched by the National Standards Authority today.
The guidelines have been drawn up following a series of accidental deaths involving collapsing goalposts.
At least four children from both sides of the border have died in such accidents over the past decade.
The NSA says Ireland's main sporting bodies, including the IFA, the IRFU and the GAA, are fully supportive of the regulations.
