Gardaí appeal for witnesses to gangland shooting
Gardaí are appealing to the public for information after two men were shot dead in a gangland style shooting in the Walkinstown area of Dublin last night.
The shooting happened at a house on Greenhills road at around 9.50pm last night.
Gardaí believe that at least two gunmen approached the house in a car before opening fire.
They are now appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time that might have seen a grey or gold Subaru car, possibly with a spoiler on the back, acting suspiciously.
Both victims were rushed from the scene by ambulance to Tallaght and St James's hospitals but were pronounced dead a short time later.
The scene has now been cordoned off for forensic examination and post mortems are expected to be carried out on the two victims.
Gardaí later confirmed one of the dead men was aged 40 and from Tallaght and the other was a 24-year-old man from Clondalkin.
The Garda Press Office issued an appeal for anyone who was in the Greenhills Road area, particularly near the Greenhills Roundabout, between 9.30pm and 10.30pm to contact detectives at Crumlin Station.
The gunmen are believed to have driven to the garage on a motorbike.
“We are particularly anxious to speak with anyone who may have seen a motorbike in the area at that time,” a garda spokesman said.
