Gardaí arrest man in €2m heroin raid

A man in his 20s was arrested tonight after drugs worth around €2m were seized by an elite garda unit.

Officers from the Special Detective Squad (SDC) investigating gang activities stopped a car in the Clondalkin area shortly before 7pm.

The vehicle was searched and more than eight kilos of heroin was found.

A garda spokesman said: “The 26-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the car was arrested at the scene.

“He is presently detained under section two of the Drug Trafficking Act at Clondalkin Garda Station.

“The SDU were assisted by members of the local drugs unit in Clondalkin and the Garda Air Support Unit in this operation.”
