Less than one third of voters believe Taoiseach, says poll
In an opinion poll released today, less than one third of voters (32%) say they believe the Taoiseach's evidence to the Mahon Tribunal.
The findings, in the Sunday Business Post / Red C survey, come as Bertie Ahern prepares to return to the witness box tomorrow.
This poll will be worrying reading for the Taoiseach which shows that more than 40% of voters say they do not believe the Taoiseach's evidence to the Mahon Tribunal, with the remainder undecided.
Meanwhile, 60% say he should resign if he is found to have lied to the Mahon Tribunal.
However the research also shows support for Bertie Ahern, with 43% of voters saying the tribunal should not be investigating his finances.
The Taoiseach is due back in Dublin Castle tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, the opinion poll shows support for the political parties is mostly unchanged since May's election.
Fianna Fáil has maintained its 40% share, while support for Fine Gael remains at 27% and Labour stands at 11%.
The best results today are for the Greens, who are up two points to 7%.
