The Immigrant Council is calling for all immigrants to be offered English-language courses when they come to Ireland.

In a report out today, the council says migrants often face language-barrier difficulties if they do not have a good standard of English.

It says the Government should offer them language courses in order to meet the needs of both the Irish economy and the immigrants contributing to that economy.
