The Justice Minister has appointed Deputy Commissioner Fachtna Murphy to succeed Noel Conroy as Garda Commissioner, when he retires in November.

The Justice Minister has appointed Deputy Commissioner Fachtna Murphy to succeed Noel Conroy as Garda Commissioner, when he retires in November.

Mr Murphy, a Cork native, has been a member of the Gardaí since 1967.
