Garda clampdown on speeding to intensify

Gardaí have said their clampdown on speeding will intensify in coming months.

In the first half of this year, 93,000 motorists were detected driving above the speed limit.

As part of the plan to reduce deaths and injuries on our roads, Gardaí say they will have to intensify efforts to catch those who continue to drive too fast.

Assistant commissioner Eddie Rock of the Garda National Traffic bureau wants motorists to take the initiative to slow down.
