A 34-year-old man has become the latest victim of a weekend of deaths on the roads after a head-on collision between two cars in Co Cavan.

A 34-year-old man has become the latest victim of a weekend of deaths on the roads after a head-on collision between two cars in Co Cavan.

The accident happened at around 8pm last night at Cranaghan in Ballyconnell.

The dead man, who was the driver of one of the cars, was taken to Navan Hospital, where a post mortem will be carried out later today.

The occupants of the other car were uninjured.

His death brings the weekend death toll on Ireland's roads to seven. Another five people were also killed in crashes on Thursday and Friday.
