Text-messaging blamed for fall in exam writing standards

The Department of Education's chief examiner in English has reportedly expressed concern about the effect that text-messaging may be having on writing standards.

Reports this morning say the examiner's review of last year's Junior Cert highlights the growing frequency of spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes.
