Conroy: Gardaí may stop responding to house alarms
Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy is warning that the force could stop responding to some house and business alarms.
Mr Conroy says too much valuable garda time is being wasted by false alarms, with more than 17,000 false activations responded to last year alone.
He wants householders and businesses to update their systems to make them more reliable.
Otherwise, he says, Gardaí may be forced to ignore certain alarms if there is no corroborating evidence to suggest a crime is being committed.
