Residents outline concerns about new Dublin Ariport terminal

Local residents have today been outlining their objections to the second terminal proposed for Dublin Airport at an oral hearing being held by An Bord Pleanála.

Yesterday, the Dublin Airport Authority made its case in favour of the terminal, which it plans to build for around €400m.

Today, Fingal County Council also defended the project, saying the proposed location was the most viable on offer.

However, local residents claimed the terminal was being rushed through with unnecessary haste and without addressing the concerns of objectors.

Ryanair, meanwhile, is due to outline its objections to the development later today.

The airline is vehemently opposed to the project, saying the new facility should be built and operated by the private sector in competition with the existing DAA terminal.

It claims the planned development is in the wrong location, poorly designed, overly expensive and a breach of Fingal County Council's own planning regulations.
