Sixth man held in Armagh organised crime probe

Police questioning dissident republicans about serious organised crime in the North today arrested a sixth man as part of an ongoing intelligence operation.

The latest arrest in Craigavon, Co Armagh, follows two days of searches which saw major disruption to cross-border rail travel.

Passengers had to be bussed yesterday after a section of the Belfast to Dublin line between Moira and Lurgan was sealed off during the operation. The man was taken for questioning to the Police Service of Northern Ireland's serious crime suite in Antrim where the other five are being held.

Four of the men were arrested on Thursday night after being stopped in a car on the Antrim Road, Lurgan.

Police arrested a fifth person in the town yesterday afternoon.

Detectives spent the day carrying out searches on houses and the railway line close to the Cornakinnegar Road.
