Man accused in Dun Laoghaire inquest denies abuse claims
A man accused of raping two of his sisters in an alleged incest ring today denied any of the abuse ever happened.
Peter Murphy Junior waiving his right to anonymity – insisted he was shocked and horrified by the claims made against him.
His sister Cynthia Owen said she was the mother of a baby found dead with 40 stab wounds in a plastic bag in Dun Laoghaire on April 4, 1973.
The 45-year-old woman came forward 12 years ago claiming to be the mother of the baby girl, known as Noleen, which she says was a result of sexual abuse.
At an inquest into the child’s death at Dublin County Coroner’s Court, Mr Murphy Junior said testimony from two of his sisters that he sexually abused them was “totally incorrect.”
He painted a picture of a happy, normal upbringing at their family home in White’s Villas, Dalkey in south Dublin.
The separated father told the inquest he was best friends with his sister Cynthia growing up and they would often share secrets.
“All of the accusations of sexual abuse inside and outside my family are totally and absolutely made up lies,” he said.
