Gardaí not contacted about Irish suspects in porn ring
The Gardaí say they have not been contacted by the Austrian authorities about Irish suspects in an international child pornography ring.
Yesterday, police in Austria announced that they had uncovered a child pornography website being used by more than 2,300 suspects in 77 countries.
A Vienna-based internet service provider is believed to have tipped off the police about videos being uploaded to its hardware without its knowledge.
Officials say they have so far identified 2,361 computer IP addresses that paid to access the site.
Reports this morning say two Irish-registered IP addresses were among those identified, but the Gardai say they have received no contact from the Austrian authorities in relation to the case.
