Man in 50s killed in Mayo crash

A man in his 50s was killed and his wife injured this morning in a road crash in Co Mayo.

The crash happened on the N5 road midway between Bohola and Ballyvary in Co Mayo at about 9.45am.

The man’s car was in collision with a roadside wall and no other vehicle was involved, gardaí said.

His wife, who was a front seat passenger, received injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The road was closed as accident investigators made their way to the scene.

Investigating gardaí in Swinford said diversions were put in place.
