Labour says judges not to blame for low conviction rates

Blaming judges for the low rates of conviction in our courts is a side-show to the real difficulties facing the Government, according to Labour leader Pat Rabbitte.

He was commenting on the recent remarks of Minister for Justice who implied that members of the judiciary could be more strict in their interpretation of the bail laws when it comes to releasing suspects.
