Two arrested after man dies from serious injuries in Galway

A man has died after being found seriously injured in Galway in the early hours of this morning.

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the death.

The 42-year-old man Irish man was found unconscious near the Walter Maken Flats in Mervue, Galway City just before 6am.

He was taken to Galway University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The scene of the incident has been sealed off, and the State Pathologist has been notified.

Investigating gardaí arrested a man and a woman near the scene shortly afterwards.

Both are being questioned at Mill Street Garda Station.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

Anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident or who has any information in relation to what happened is asked to contact the Gardaí.
