A Latvian man has been convicted of killing a Lithuanian man at a flat in Wexford eighteen months ago.

29-year-old Prince has been found guilty of manslaughter but not guilty of murder in relation to the death of Robertas Stravinskas.

29-year-old Robertas Stravinskas, a father of one, was stabbed to death at an apartment at Cromwellsort House in Wexford on the May 23, 2005.

During the five day trial, Jurijs Prince gave evidence that himself and Mr Stravinskas had been drinking wine and vodka in the flat all day, when he claimed the deceased insulted his girlfriend and implied that he was homosexual.

Mr Prince, with a previous address at the flat, says he grabbed a knife and attacked the Lithuanian in the leg and then in the neck, puncturing the carotid artery.

A jury of seven men and five women took less than two hours to return an unanimous verdict of manslaughter.

Jurijs Prince faces sentencing on the November 15.
