Ahern: Allegations 'baseless and a tissue of lies'

In his Dáil statement on the £8,000 (€11,800) he received in Manchester in 1994 while Minister for Finance, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said today the charges made against him "are baseless, false and a tissue of lies".

After initial wrangling from opposition parties over the amount of time allocated to debate the issue Me Ahern said the charges were there to "set me up".
