Cowen denies Govt rift over PDs' proposals
Finance Minister Brian Cowen has denied suggestions that the PDs' proposals on stamp duty have caused a rift in the Government.
Earlier this week, PD leader Michael McDowell said reducing stamp duty on homes would be one of his priorities if his party forms part of the next Government.
Mr Cowen last night denied media reports that he was annoyed by the proposal and also ruled out the possibility of adopting them in this December’s budget.
He said the stamp-duty proposals being considered by the PDs were entirely a matter for the junior coalition partner.
