The Mahon Tribunal has begun the latest phase of its investigation into alleged planning corruption in Dublin.

The Mahon Tribunal has begun the latest phase of its investigation into alleged planning corruption in Dublin.

The current module of the inquiry is examining the rezoning of land near Dublin Airport owned by a consortium called Cargobridge.

The rezoning was approved unanimously by councillors in 1993, despite being strongly opposed by Aer Rianta.

Former political lobbyist Frank Dunlop has claimed he paid bribes to several councillors in return for their support on the motion.

The tribunal is also investigating Finance Minister Brian Cowen's decision to grant a commercial right-of-way at the Cargobridge land while he was Minister for Transport in 1993.
