The Ryder Cup looks set to escape the worst of the bad weather forecast for later this week.

Met Éireann is predicting severe winds as the tail-end of Hurricane Gordon strikes the country on Thursday.

However, it says the worst of the storm should pass by Thursday night, just before the Ryder Cup tees off at the K Club on Friday morning.
