THOUSANDS of fans travelling to the Ryder Cup at the K Club over the next few days are likely to be “engolfed” by torrential downpours which threaten to disrupt play at the course in Co Kildare.

European captain Ian Woosnam voiced the concern today that the first Ryder Cup in Ireland could be halted by bad weather.

The Ryder Cup looks set to escape the worst of the bad weather forecast for later this week.
