John Carthy's sister to write book about his life

The sister of John Carthy, who was shot dead by gardaí in Abbeylara Co Longford in April 2000 is to write a book about his life and death.

Marie Carthy said today she wants to detail who John was from his family's point of view, rather than the depressed figure portrayed in the media.

The book is due to be published next spring.
