Dublin Fringe Festival five days shorter this year

This year’s Dublin Fringe Festival will be five days shorter than last year's event - despite recording a 53% increase at the box office.

118 events will take place all over the city from September 9-24.

It will include everything from free haircuts, opera in the pub, plays in dentist's chairs and a major fire installation along the Liffey.

Artistic director Wolfgang Hoffman says the festival was streamlined to make a greater impact on audiences.

He feels the festival will be better when it only lasts two weeks, and starts in full force.
