Man questioned over double stabbing
Gardaí were today continuing to question a man after a double stabbing in a popular tourist town in Co Leitrim.
Two Polish nationals – aged 26 and 33 – were rushed to Sligo General Hospital after the attack in Carrick-on-Shannon at 11pm last night.
Gardaí were called to the scene at a laneway near the Archway Apartments on the town’s Main Street after reports of an assault.
Their injuries have been described as serious but not life-threatening.
A 24-year-old man – also a Polish national – was arrested some time later and continues to be quizzed by gardaí at Carrick-on-Shannon.
He can be detained for up to 12 hours for questioning.
