Councillors earning almost €30,000 a year

City and county councillors are reportedly earning an average salary of almost €30,000 each, despite the part-time nature of their positions.

Councillors earn a formal salary of €15,000, but reports this morning say they are almost doubling this figure through extra payments from public bodies.
