Council to seek judicial review of Navan housing decision
Meath County Council is reportedly seeking a judicial review of a decision by An Bord Pleanala to grant permission for more than 400 houses near Navan.
Reports this morning say the council initially refused permission for the development, but this was overturned by An Bord Pleanala.
However, due to an omission, the appeals body failed to include a condition in the planning approval requiring the developer to comply with the law on social housing.
Under the law, 20% of dwelling units in any development must be set aside for social housing or else the developer must pay a financial contribution or hand over land to the local council.
Meath County Council is claiming it could lose out on up to €10m as a result of the An Bord Pleanala omission.
