Census figures set to reveal further rise in population

Preliminary census results due to be published later this morning are expected to reveal a further rise in Ireland's population.

The last census in 2002 put the population at 3.9 million, but today's figures are expected to show that this her now risen to almost 4.2 million, the highest level in 135 years.
