Man dies after swim in Co Offaly lake

A young man has died after getting into difficulties while swimming in a lake in Co Offaly yesterday evening.

The man was rescued from Pallas Lake in Blueball at around 8.30pm by the emergency services.

He was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where he died a short time later.
