Government to launch new energy conservation campaign

The Government is to launch a major marketing campaign to encourage small business and householders to preserve energy.

The Oireachtas Committee which deals with Natural resources has been told that the European Union is determined to cut energy costs as oil prices continue to soar around the world.

The Campaign on energy efficiency will be launched in the Autumn.

Sara White from the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources today told the Oireachtas Committee that the campaign will not just be a once-off.

"The race against waste campaign is the model for heavy hitting delivery around energy efficiency linked to a communication strategy, but also providing modules that will encourage people," she said.
