Four due in court in relation to €2.3m security van raid

Four men are due in court this morning in connection with a €2.3m security van robbery in which a couple and their two teenage children were kidnapped.

The Securicor worker was held hostage along with his wife and two teenage boys in March last year by a number of people who broke into their home in the Raheny area of Dublin.

During the night, the mother and children were taken to woods in Wicklow and tied up, while the father was forced to go to work as normal as a security van driver.

The van was then intercepted and robbed at the Strawberry Beds near the Phoenix Park.

The driver's wife and children were then released unharmed in Cloon Wood.

The four men due in court today were arrested during a number of raids this morning that followed an intensive garda investigation.
