DUP criticises Easter Rising commemorations in Derry
Democratic Unionist Party councillors have criticised planned commemorations of the 1916 Easter Rising in Derry this year.
The party launched the criticism after the nationalist-dominated city council voted to officially mark the event this Easter.
DUP councillors opposed to the move, claiming it was anti-British and would isolate the unionist community.
They have also accused Sinn Féin of raising the issue with Derry City Council "to rub our noses in it".
However, Sinn Féin councillor Peter Anderson has rejected the accusation, saying Derry regularly commemorates the First and Second World Wars and doing the same for the Easter Rising was simply a question of equality.
