Gardaí rule out link between two Dublin bomb attacks
Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy has ruled out any link between two bomb attacks on Dublin's northside this week.
The first attack happened on Wednesday night, when a pipe bomb planted inside a flask packed with nails and shotgun pellets exploded outside the home of a second-hand car dealer in Coolock.
The second happened just after midnight last night, when a device was thrown at the front of a house in Kilbarrack.
Gardaí believe the Coolock device, which could have caused death or serious injury, was manufactured by dissident republicans, possibly on behalf of a criminal gang.
The exact nature of the second bomb has not been disclosed, but Mr Conroy said today that it was not related in any way to the Coolock incident.
