Four hurt in Belfast crash

Four people were injured today when a car carrying eight people crashed in north Belfast.

The driver of the Ford Focus was later arrested for driving while unfit.

The accident happened on Woodvale Road, close to Woodvale Park, shortly before 1am.

Police said three men and one woman required treatment for minor injuries.

The incident followed separate road accidents in Co Down yesterday which claimed the lives of a motorcyclist and a teenager.

A 44-year-old man died after his bike was involved in a crash with a car.

The collision happened in the Temple area of Carryduff around 2.30pm yesterday.

Police in Lisburn have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident, which involved a Yamaha motorbike and a Citroen Saxo, to come forward.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old died after a two-car collision outside Downpatrick.

Two people were treated in hospital following the crash on the Ardglass Road.

Police said the teenager was a front seat passenger in a silver Mercedes C220 when it was involved in an accident with a red Renault Megane, shortly after 7pm yesterday.

A PSNI spokeswoman appealed for anyone who was travelling on the Ardglass Road, three miles from Downpatrick, around the time of the incident to come forward.
