Gallagher denies falling-out with Dempsey over fishing

Junior Minister Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher has denied claims of a serious dispute between himself and Minister Noel Dempsey.

Junior Minister Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher has denied claims of a serious dispute between himself and Minister Noel Dempsey.

Opposition politicians have claimed Mr Gallagher is being stripped of many of his duties due to a ministerial feud within the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources.

The alleged row apparently centres on the Junior Minister's opposition to new legislation designed to implement EU fishing policies and protect dwindling fish stocks.

However, Mr Gallagher has denied that any row exists and has insisted he is on good terms with Mr Dempsey.

"I can categorically deny that," he said. "[There are] no difficulties whatsoever between myself and Noel Dempsey."
